Australia's Royal Ascot raiders have had a scare with a two-year-old stabled near them catching a fever.

It was the last thing Australian trainers Joe Janiak (Takeover Target) and Danny Morton (Scenic Blast) needed with the week-long royal festival starting on Tuesday night.

Janiak had left his Newmarket stable after working his veteran sprinter when Morton arrived to see staff of visiting US trainer Wesley Ward taking the sick horse's temperature.

"I'm not overly alarmed. The symptoms look like travel sickness," Morton said.

"If the situation became extreme I'd remove Scenic Blast from the yard."

The Australian horses have delighted their trainers in England.

Dual Group 1 winner Scenic Blast will run in the 1000m King's Stand Stakes on the opening day, while Takeover Target will bid for glory on his fourth trip to the meeting in the 1200m Golden Jubilee Stakes on Saturday, the last day.

Takeover Target, who won the King's Stand in 2006, could face his younger rival in the July Cup at Newmarket over a straight 1200m.

Scenic Blast, whose race jockey Steve Arnold arrived yesterday, will have a final hitout on Friday.
